March 24, 2004; One year to the day after PSA Peugeot Citroën's announcement of a 50 million euro investment for manufacturing the Peugeot 307 in Argentina, the first units are now rolling off the new production lines at the Palomar plant, located in a neighbouring suburb of Buenos Aires.

This manufacturing milestone follows on from the announcement of the production launch of the 307 sedan at the Wuhan site in Central China, and it confers on Argentina an important role in Peugeot's manufacturing resources dedicated to its product offer in the M1 segment.

The manufacture of the 307 in Argentina also underpins Peugeot's sales ambitions in South America in general and it Argentina in particular.

Over the full year, Argentina will produce 16,000 units of this model, available in 9 different versions based around the 5 door saloon petrol (1.6 l and 2.0 l) and Diesel (2.0 l HDi) models. In addition to the Argentinean market, the locally produced 307 is also intended to satisfy the demands of the broader Latin American market, being one of the PSA Peugeot Citroën group's priority zones for development.

In 2003, the Palomar plant produced 24,600 vehicles of both marques, including 23,400 Peugeot (206, Partner Passenger Vehicle and Light Utility Vehicle) and 1,200 Citroën Berlingo (Passenger Vehicle and Light Utility Vehicle).

The 307 Production Launch Project was completed in a record time of just 12 months. The integration rate, already very high at the beginning of the launch (43%), should rapidly reach 70 % between now and the end of 2004.

In 2003, the Peugeot 307, of which already more than 1,500,000 units have been produced, was the sixth best-selling car in Europe and in 2004 it should attract an even wider audience with a forecast production volume of around 600,000 units.
