Sacla' Launches It's Classic Fiat 500 Collection In Buckinghamshire, Tuesday 30th March 2004

LONDON, March 26 --

Sacla', the number one pesto brand, famed for the introduction of Green Pesto to the UK over 15 years ago, is expanding the range with the launch of it's classic Italian car collection - 9 copper Fiat 500's.

The cars, all in excess of 30 years old have been fully restored and resprayed copper to tie in with the company's recently revised corporate identity. Additionally each vehicle features a decoupaged vegetable bonnet never previously seen in either the UK or Italy.

The decision to purchase the Cinquecentos was as a result of the iconic Italian car being voted in the 'top 10' of small cars by BBC Top Gear. Sacla' UK subsequently formed a link with 'best things coming in small packages' and like the cinquecento, Sacla' pesto condenses unquestionable authenticity and exceptional flavour into a small jar. Appropriately the resounding phrase was created... 'Small Car, Small Jar'. Family remains a key aspect to the reputation and success of Sacla' and likewise the Fiat brand which made for a perfect Italian match.

The cars will be unveiled under starter's orders of Tiff Needell at 11.30 am in Beaconsfield on Tuesday 30th March 2004. The drivers are all either connected to the world of food or motorsport and include Antony Worrall Thompson, Mark Hix, Heston Blumenthal, Phil Vickery, Sue Lawrence, Jane Curran, Massimo Toso (Fiat UK Managing Director) and Giuseppe Ercole (Sacla' UK Chairman).

The Fiat 500's will complete a designated route around their adopted English county and return to Basil House, home of the famed pesto producer, Sacla'.

The family owned Italian company renowned for it's authentic sauces and ingredients undertook a small scale sampling campaign in 2003 which proved so successful that the initiative is to be repeated nationwide from April to October this year.

The Fiat 500's will be key features in towns, at County shows and supermarkets across all regions in the UK educating on the merits of pesto, authentic pasta sauces and Italian food.
