Safelite Raises Over a Quarter of a Million Dollars for United Way

COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 25 -- Safelite Group, a leading provider of claims management and auto glass solutions, raised more than a quarter of a million dollars for United Way for 2004 with a national campaign focused on giving back to local communities.

Safelite worked closely with United Way of Central Ohio to roll out a national campaign that allowed Safelite employees across the country to contribute to United Way. Donations were tallied at the United Way in Columbus and then disbursed out to over 70 local United Way chapters across the nation.

"We've supported the United Way of Central Ohio for many years, through a campaign in Columbus, Ohio," said Jenny Cain, Safelite's Campaign Coordinator. "Conducting a national campaign that supported our local communities allowed all of our employees to participate and give back to their individual communities."

The 2004 contribution includes employee pay pledges, a corporate match and additional money raised through company events.

Safelite employees pledged more than $156,000 to United Way and the company provided a 50% match for every dollar raised, bringing the total United Way pledge for 2004 to more than $250,000. Safelite employees were able to raise additional dollars through events including root beer float sales, car washes, potluck lunches and raffles.

"Our national United Way campaign gives every employee the opportunity to give," said Cain. "But what is even more important is that it gives our employees the ability to give back to the community where they live. They can see the impact of their contribution through the programs and services provided by their local United Way."

Safelite has held annual United Way campaigns at its corporate headquarters in Columbus, Ohio for more than 10 years, contributing more than $1 million over the last five years alone.
