Daewoo exec to lead GM Asia engineering
Seoul March 24, 2004; The Korea Herald reported that GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Co. said yesterday that its chief engineer would lead the engineering activities by General Motors Corp.'s Asia Pacific operations.
The Korean subsidiary of GM, the world's largest automaker, said that the U.S. company had appointed Yu Ki-joon, GM Daewoo's vice president of product engineering, as the engineering functional coordinator for GM Asia Pacific.
"GM Daewoo will have more voice at GM's global engineering table," said Nick Reilly, president and chief executive officer of the Korean carmaker.
Separately, GM Daewoo said it has launched the five-door hatchback version of its Lacetti compact sedan that the company expects to be a key product for overseas sales, particularly in the European market.
