NayKid Racing Sweeps First Two Podiums of 2004
PUYALLUP, WASH., March 23, 2004 - NayKid Racing entered its first two
races of the 2004 Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) T1 season this past
weekend with the goal of sweeping every position on the podium. Mission
accomplished at Thunderhill Raceway in Willows, Calif.
The three-car Corvette Z06 team of Scotty B. White (Puyallup, Wash.),
Cindi Lux (Aloha, Or.) and Ryan Snodgrass (Kirkland, Wash.) dominated
the two-race weekend with their three KUMHO Tire/ Suburban Chevrolet/
Redline Oil/ Kodiak Racing Wheels/ CORSA Exhaust Chevrolet Corvettes in
a fashion that made even their 2003 results (11 wins in 13 races) look
second-rate.
White, who won the 2003 T1 title in the Southern Pacific SCCA Division,
as well as the '03 SCCA Pro Solo and Solo II class Championships, won
the pole position and both races in his No. 3 KUMHO Tires' Corvette. Hot
on his heals was Lux, who won the 2003 SCCA Northern Pacific Division T1
title and Oregon National Driver of the Year, in her No. 78 Suburban Z06
Chevrolet. The 1999 American Le Mans Series Women's Global GT Series
champion finished second in both races. SCCA T1 class rookie Snodgrass
took the final step of the podium in his first two races with NayKid
driving the No. 75 Corvette.
White and Lux each obliterated the Thunderhill T1 class track record in
both qualifying and the race on the first day and then quickly bettered
those hot laps on day-two. The two pushed each other across the
finish-line of Sunday's race with a nip-and-tuck battle that kept
onlookers glued to the front of the field. The battle proved that the
greatest competition for NayKid Racing in 2004 may very well be NayKid
Racing.
Scotty B. White: "It was an awesome result. We were a little nervous
about knocking the cobwebs off and we had some good competition out
there. Obviously, the team hasn't lost a step. This was our first try on
a bumpy track with the new KUMHO Tires. And it came together just great.
The crew was awesome. The guys worked so hard to make it perfect. Nobody
on this team bitches, nobody moans, they just want to get the results.
What a great start to the season. Knocking four seconds off the track
records is a pretty good whack. Looks like Cindi's shoulder is back. I'm
just jacked-up for Pueblo [Colorado, the next SCCA T1 race weekend that
NayKid Racing will compete in]. There's a couple more big dogs in Pueblo
so we're going out to find the competition."
Cindi Lux: "It was Scotty's weekend. He had the car to beat. I was
chasing hard and made him work for it but he deserved the win. I was
flat-out impressed with the new KUMHO Tires. The KUMHOs are so good;
there is so much grip! The exciting part is that we have some more work
to do in order to take FULL advantage of these tires and hopefully
become even faster. We were testing a number of new products on the car.
The new CORSA Exhaust system really impressed us too. It performed
flawlessly. Ryan, our new teammate, did a great job with his first race
in this car. It's all about fun. and that's something we definitely know
how to do!"
NayKid Racing won 11 of 13 T1 races entered in 2003, earned 15 podium
finishes, 11 pole positions and set six track records. Since its
creation in 1998, NayKid has earned six SCCA division T1 titles, as well
as five SCCA Pro Solo Championships and seven Solo II titles. The team
made history at Mosport in 1999 becoming the first Corvette team to win
a SPEED World Challenge GT race. White finished as runner-up in Rookie
of the Year honors that same year. Over the course of his two season
participation in SPEED World Challenge GT, White finished in the top-10,
an amazing 78% of the time!
