Avis Awards McLean, Virginia Resident One Million Mileage Plus Miles

            Points Of Light Foundation Receives Cash Donation

   WHAT:    Avis Rent A Car System, Inc. will present Robert Lyons of
            McLean, Virginia with one million United Mileage Plus miles for
            winning the grand prize in the 2003 Avis "Million Air
            Sweepstakes."

            The contest, held in connection with the 40th anniversary of
            Avis' famous "We Try Harder" tagline, was designed to make one
            lucky individual a "million air" by awarding a grand prize of
            one million frequent flyer miles.  Ten runners-up received
            25,000 frequent flyer miles from their choice of Avis airline
            partners.

            In addition, Avis will present a cash donation to the Points of
            Light Foundation, a national non-profit organization that
            supports the work of millions of volunteers in thousands of
            communities.  As part of the  "We Try Harder" spirit and the
            40th anniversary celebration, Avis made a donation for each
            entry received in the "Million Air Sweepstakes" to support
            volunteers who try harder "on the ground."
