Driver Bryan Herta Back on Track at Phoenix

AVONDALE, Ariz. (March 19, 2004) - Bryan Herta and the XM Satellite
Radio team battled the heat and electrical gremlins today at Phoenix
International Raceway in preparation for Sunday's Indy Racing League®
IndyCar® Series Copper World Indy 200.
Herta struggled to find grip for the XM Satellite Radio
Dallara/Honda/Firestone during the first of today's two practice sessions.  In the
afternoon session, electrical gremlins struck the team, which cost them most of
the practice time available.  The crew solved the problems and Herta was able to
turn 22 laps in the session, one of which was good enough for sixth fastest in the
afternoon and 15th quickest overall.
Herta's Andretti Green Racing teammate Tony Kanaan was third quickest
on the day behind defending series champion Scott Dixon and Helio
Castroneves.  Kanaan posted a quick speed of 174.353 miles per hour.  Dario
Franchitti turned a best lap at 171.322 miles per hour, which was good enough
for sixth quickest and Dan Wheldon posted a lap at 170.872 miles per hour.
Qualifying for the Copper World Indy 200 begins at 2 p.m. (EST) tomorrow
with the start of Round 2 of the 2004 IndyCar Series coming at 4 p.m. (EST) on
Sunday.

Bryan Herta, Driver, #7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone
"I don't think the lap times mean a whole lot here at Phoenix because the
race is so much different than practice.  We had a lot of electrical problems this
afternoon, but the XM Satellite Radio crew got most of them figured out.  We
have a practice before qualifying tomorrow so we can make sure we solved
everything."

George Klotz, Team Manager, #7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone
"We improved the car from the first session, which is something we were
really happy about. But we were chasing electrical gremlins all afternoon.  That
cost us a lot during the afternoon, but we're closer to the top of the charts with
the improvements we made."
