Terry Borcheller - Sebring preview
Terry Borcheller will be ready to race after eight packed days of preparation
for the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, the first race in the 2004 American
Le Mans Series. Borcheller and ACEMCO Motorsports tested on the 3.7-mile
Sebring (Fla.) International Raceway road course on Friday and Saturday, March 12
and 13, took a day to analyze data and work on car set-up, then returned for
another five days on track before the 12-hour race on Saturday, March 20.
Borcheller, of Gainesville, Ga., will drive the No. 63 ACEMCO Motorsports
Saleen S7R with David Brabham of Maidenhead, England, and Johnny Mowlem of
London, England. The trio will focus on a consistent pace, a key element in
endurance racing.
"Our goal is to come away with as many points as possible - I think that's a
realistic goal - then continue our testing and development until the next
race," Borcheller said. "I think the car will be very reliable. You don't ever
know that, but Saleen has given the new car more endurance; it's more reliable.
If things go wrong, it's also easier to fix. They've done a good job in that
respect. Hopefully after Sebring, we'll be able to work on speed. I don't know
that we can keep pace with the Corvettes yet, but I think that we can at least
run consistently."

Borcheller will continue his tradition of meeting with two youth groups
during the Sebring race week. He will speak to a special assembly of the students
at Sebring High School on March 17, then address a race rally at Sebring First
Baptist Church that evening. He has taken time to meet with both groups for
the past four years, as part of his support of Motorsports Ministries.
