RMS Motorsports to Compete in American GT Challenge
Wilton, CT - RMS Motorsports, based in Racine, Wisconsin, has announced its intention to compete for the 2004 American GT Road Racing Association Season Championship, beginning with the inaugural event at Carolina Motorsports Park on Easter weekend. Driver Peter Mohrhauser will be piloting the #00 Ford Mustang, a Weaver Racing Concepts chassis with power by Powersource Racing Engines and race support provided by Advanced Autosport. Mohrhauser kicked off the 2004 season with a strong second place finish at the SCCA Winter National at Sebring International Raceway, and hopes to further build upon that foundation to find victory lane in the American GT series.
Mohrhauser is a former Rookie of the Year and National Class Champion in the Michelin Viper Days Race Series, and in 2000, Mohrhauser competed in 6 Formula Mazda Series races, collecting 6 podium finishes including 1 race win. He placed third in the season standings, despite missing the last 4 races due to schedule conflicts.
In 2001, Mohrhauser competed in the 2001 Grand-American Road Racing Series with Orion Motorsports, driving a Roush Racing Mustang in the American GT class at Lime Rock Park and Road America, and in 2002, Mohrhauser made his first Sports Car Club of America start in his #00 Mustang, sweeping both ends of the Road America Double Regional, after starting from the pole in both races.
In 2003, Mohrhauser made his SCCA National debut by qualifying on the pole and setting a new track record at Gingerman Raceway, and followed that up with strong performances at Road America and Blackhawk Farms Raceway.
RMS Motorsports will be carrying the colors of sponsors Versa Air, a Wisconsin-based charter service and flight school, and Race-Sport.net, an Internet retailer of racing-related parts, accessories and driver gear.
