SCCA Pro Racing To Sanction Motorock Trans-Am Tour in 2004 while Champ Car Assumes Operational Role

INDIANAPOLIS (March 9, 2004) ‹ The Motorock Trans-Am Series has signed a
sanctioning agreement with SCCA Pro Racing for 2004, while Champ Car will
take over operations of the Series this season. The agreements, which take
effect immediately, were announced today by Motorock Trans-Am Series
Executive Director John Clagett, SCCA Pro President Steve Johnson, and Champ
Car World Series President Dick Eidswick.

The agreements continue a relationship between Trans-Am and SCCA dating back
to 1966.

³This unique sanctioning and operations agreement allows the Trans-Am Series
to have the best of both worlds,² said Clagett. ³SCCA Pro, which owns the
Trans-Am brand, is an integral part of the Series¹ long history, and will
continue its long-standing tradition of supplying the nation¹s premiere
corner workers and race-weekend staff. SCCA¹s 109 proud regions can continue
to take delight in being part of Trans-Am, North America¹s leading form of
sedan sports car racing.

³The addition of Champ Car will integrate Trans-Am with a great motorsports
organization, known for its world-renowned safety team, its top-notch
technology department, as well as its strengths in administration,
insurance, public relations and marketing,² added Clagett. ³The integration
also allows for greater efficiency in terms of operations, making Trans-Am
stronger, operationally speaking, than ever before.²

³It¹s important for SCCA to remain involved with the series it started in
the 1960s,² SCCA Pro Racing President Steve Johnson said. ³We are happy to
provide sanction to the Motorock Trans-Am Series, and look forward to the
beginning of its 2004 season.²

³We are pleased to take over operations of Trans-Am in 2004,² said Eidswick.
³The Trans-Am Series boasts a history unequaled in North American auto
racing. I think this agreement will yield significant benefits to Trans-Am
and Champ Car.²

The Motorock Trans-Am Series features closed-fendered, production-based,
V-8-powered sports cars, competing on permanent road courses, and temporary

39th anniversary in 2004.
