RoadCheck Alerts UK Drivers of Speed Traps

UTRECHT, Netherlands, March 9 -- Beginning March 10th, RoadCheck, a Dutch firm, introduces an interactive speed trap warning system for UK motorists.

Our motto is "Our eyes, your road", and the service provides speed trap alerts on all UK roads and major cities.

With over 4,650 active speed cameras and many hundreds of mobile cameras, over 1 million UK motorists are penalised for speeding each year. Speed traps are presented as "safety instruments" but no statistics support that claim. With some speed cameras snapping pictures worth as much as GBP840,000 PER WEEK, RoadCheck offers motorists a legal and safe way to fight back.

Speed traps are phoned in by motorists on our reporting number or spotted by one of our mobile spotter teams patrolling the UK roads.

With more European countries banning the use of electronic radar detectors, RoadCheck provides a safe, legal alternative to motorists so they are no longer surprised by radar detector alarms and know in advance exactly where a speed trap is located.

Subscribing is easy and can be done by following the instructions at or by sending the text message ROAD ON to 83155. RoadCheck fully complies with the ICSTIS code of practice for premium text messaging services and unsubscribing to the service is made fast and easy.

Subscribers to the RoadCheck service select their own regions or roads and receive messages with the location of speed traps. Each message costs 20p and the service is discretely billed by the cell phone provider making it an ideal service for business users. Commuters can add multiple regions and roads to their "profile" ensuring they receive all reports on their regular commute. RoadCheck also has an active no-spam policy so you can be assured that your personal information will not be compromised.

RoadCheck was first introduced in the Netherlands in December 2001, currently with well over 100,000 subscribers to the service and an aggressive European expansion is planned for 2004. RoadCheck is the sole provider of speed trap information to several major Dutch cellular operators, Internet service providers and radio stations. The "driving force" behind RoadCheck is Roods/PlatformOne, active in interactive services since 1994.
