Dashboard Confessional Headlines Fourth Consecutive Year of Civic Tour; Kicks Off May 13th in Portland, ME; Pre-Sale of Tickets Starts Today at civictour.com
VENICE, Calif.--March 8, 2004--Gearing up for the fourth annual Civic Tour, American Honda Motor Co., is pleased to announce this year's tour headliner, Dashboard Confessional. Building on the success of the last three years with such A-list artists as blink-182, Everclear, Incubus, Good Charlotte and New Found Glory, Honda continues their support of emerging talent with this year's headliner. The nationwide tour will launch on May 13, 2004 in Portland, ME."We're excited to be involved with this tour because it allows us to branch out to a larger audience, while still keeping it intimate and affordable for our fans," said Chris Carrabba, singer of Dashboard Confessional. "Plus, our fans will be able to win our one-of-a-kind customized Civic."

The band chose to have the Civic Coupe (one of Honda's top selling models) painted and designed with a unique and vibrant look. Included in this year's customized Civics are state-of-the-art, premium audio components from Alpine Electronics. The system features a 500-watt DVD mobile multimedia system with DVD/CD/MP3/WMA/CDR/CDRW playback and satellite-linked navigation. High-performance Type-S speakers, subwoofers and V12 amps complete the system. Each vehicle will also include an Apple iPOD that can be controlled directly from the in-dash receiver using Alpine's new interface.
Back this year, by popular demand, is the traveling Civic Tour Non-Stop Music Lounge presented by Alpine Electronics, where the customized Dashboard Confessional Civic will be showcased as well as provide a cool spot for fans to visit before and after the show. The new Civic will be on tour with the band, giving fans an up-close-and-personal look at the highly customized machine autographed by Dashboard Confessional. A total of 10 of these unique Civics will be awarded through national and local media promotions, one of which will be given away through civictour.com.
Civic Tour is a unique promotion where music fans can catch their favorite acts at a great low-ticket price, with this year's tour bringing the lowest price to date. Fans also get a chance to win one of the many new customized Honda Civics, designed and autographed by Dashboard Confessional. Created and produced by Marketing Factory, Inc., Civic Tour is bringing the Honda Civic Coupe closer to youthful, contemporary drivers, while offering music fans their favorite bands.
It's been four years since Chris Carrabba recorded an album full of intimate acoustic songs and released the album "Swiss Army Romance" under the name Dashboard Confessional. One year later, Vagrant Records released the follow-up album, "The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most," which sold more than 500,000 copies becoming the label's first Certified Gold record. Dashboard followed that up with an "MTV Unplugged" album & DVD, which went platinum. 2002 saw Dashboard take home a coveted "Moon Man" when they were named the MTV2 Artist of the Year.
After a virtual non-stop world tour lasting two years and more than 450 shows, the band (which includes bassist Scott Schoenbeck, guitarist/keyboardist John Lefler and drummer Mike Marsh), went into the studio with acclaimed producer Gil Norton (Foo Fighters, Pixies, Counting Crows) to record "A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar." That album, which spawned the top ten modern rock hit "Hands Down," debuted at #2 on the Billboard Charts upon its release in August and quickly went gold. The real Dashboard Confessional experience however takes place on the road. With thousands of loyal fans turning out en masse to sing along and pour their hearts out, a Dashboard Confessional show has to be seen to be believed.
