AMD Congratulates Ferrari Team on Victory; Schumacher and Barrichello Finish First and Second in Season Opener
MELBOURNE, Australia--March 7, 2004--The AMD supported Ferrari Formula One team scored an incredible one-two victory with six-time World Champion Michael Schumacher clocking his 71st win in Melbourne, Australia. Teammate Rubens Barrichello came in second to complete a total domination in the first race of the 2004 season.The talent of both drivers is not to be under-estimated, but this victory was all about team work, as both drivers made clear after the race. "This is a fantastic team. I'm very proud of them, the car they've developed is incredible and although we have to keep our feet on the ground, we also keep pushing each other to greater things," said Rubens Barrichello.

The evening before this victorious race, Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello joined AMD at a press conference to celebrate the extension of AMD's sponsorship contract with Ferrari until the end of 2006. AMD has become the latest key member of the Ferrari family to sign up through 2006, alongside Ferrari Team Principal Jean Todt, Technical Director Ross Brawn, Chief Designer Rory Byrne, Engine Director Paolo Martinelli and both drivers.
