BMW is on the Road to Providing the Latest Satellite Navigation System - Smartnav by Trafficmaster

CRANFIELD, BEDFORDSHIRE, England, March 4 -- BMW Great Britain has announced that it will be offering its customers Smartnav, the advanced satellite navigation system, as an approved accessory for all new models within the 3 series range. It will be sold throughout the 156 BMW UK dealerships.

BMW customers will benefit from Smartnav's ability to calculate the best route, which uses Trafficmaster's traffic data to guide drivers around delays. BMW will also offer Smartnav's optional services that can be incorporated into the standard navigation package. These include; Safe Speed, a safety camera alert that warns drivers, via a series of beeps, as they approach fixed or variable speed cameras or if they travel above the speed limit in the monitored zone; and a GPS based stolen vehicle location service.

Smartnav can be purchased for GBP579 including VAT, connection and a 36-month warranty. Installation will be charged by the dealer according to individual labour rates. Annual subscription to the service costs GBP120. Safe Speed can be added for just GBP6 a month, whilst the stolen vehicle location service is GBP8 a month.
