Chrysler Group U.S. Sales Increased 1 Percent in February 2004

- February Represents Fifth Consecutive Month of Year-Over-Year Sales Gains - Jeep(R) Brand Sales Increase 31 Percent - Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Liberty Set February Sales Records - Sebring Sales Rose 28 Percent, Lifting Chrysler Brand Sales by 4 Percent - Dodge Durango Sales Up 6 Percent for the Month

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., March 2 -- Driven by exceptionally strong retail sales, the Chrysler Group today reported U.S. sales of 172,647 units in February 2004, an increase of 1 percent compared with February 2003, when 170,614 vehicles were sold. February represents the fifth consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains at the Chrysler Group.

The Jeep(R) brand led the way with sales of 39,002 vehicles, an increase of 31 percent over February 2003, when 29,766 vehicles were sold. Jeep Liberty set a February sales record of 15,432 vehicles, up 30 percent from February 2003, beating last year's February record of 11,832 units. Jeep Wrangler also had its best February ever, posting sales of 6,960 units, an increase of 79 percent over February 2003. The previous February record for Jeep Wrangler was 6,703 units, set in 1997.

"Only in a Jeep do you get this combination of on-road refinement, off- road capability and marketplace dominance," said Gary Dilts, Chrysler Group Senior Vice President - Sales.

Dodge Durango sales were up 6 percent in February, 9,856 units compared with 9,293 units in February 2003. Dodge Ram continued to perform well with sales of 31,848 units in February, a month-over-month increase of 23 percent compared with January 2004. Dodge Neon sales increased 8 percent in February compared with the same month last year, posting sales of 11,807 units, compared with 10,928.

Chrysler Pacifica sales of 6,454 units were up 8 percent compared with January 2004. Chrysler Sebring sales rose 28 percent in February compared with the same month last year. Chrysler brand sales of 39,405 units in February were 4 percent vs February 2003, when 37,885 units were sold.

"This is a strong start to a year of high expectations for the Chrysler Group," said Dilts. "Our Zero Plus incentive program for February along with a growing lineup of fresh, new vehicles led to increased showroom traffic."

"Economic indicators remain positive," Dilts added. "The severe winter weather dampened sales in early February. But consumer confidence, an improving stock market, lower unemployment claims and a willingness to buy produced one of the strongest February closes we've seen. We are well positioned to capitalize on this momentum as we introduce nine new products this year into an improving economic environment."

Arriving in dealerships now are 2005 Chrysler and Dodge minivans with the unique Stow 'n Go seating system that allows the second and third rows to fold flat into the floor -- an industry first. Dilts also pointed out that early press reviews of the new 2005 PT Cruiser Convertible have been positive, and that dealer orders for the all-new 2005 Chrysler 300 and Dodge Magnum are strong.

"The Chrysler 300 and Dodge Magnum will become available with the HEMI, the engine that is creating more excitement in the marketplace than some of our competitors' products," said Dilts.

The Chrysler Group finished the month with 530,178 units of inventory or a 74-day supply.
