TARC Inks New Consulting Agreement with Mirenco
RADCLIFFE, Iowa--Feb. 2, 20046, 2004--Mirenco, Inc., (OTCBB:MREO) announced that The Transit Authority of River City (TARC), Louisville, Kentucky has signed a new consultative service contract for their entire metro diesel bus fleet which includes identifying those vehicles requiring the installation of DriverMax technology.Over the past three years, Mirenco has been assisting TARC with its throttle modulation program, which incorporates Mirenco's Combustion Management Program. "TARC continually looks for ways to enhance Louisville's livability. We're receiving the first hybrid electric buses in the region this summer. We hope to become the area's first user of ultra low sulfur diesel fuel this year. But our throttle modulation program demonstrated our interest in leading the way to cleaner air over three years ago. We've been thrilled with the success of this program," explained Geoffrey Hobin, Special Projects Manager for TARC.
"In the past, our agreement with TARC has been to evaluate about one-half of their diesel fleet, primarily their older buses. Because of TARC's concerns about emissions and maintenance as well as the great success of the program in the past, they have expanded the agreement to cover their entire diesel powered fleet of approximately 250 vehicles," stated Steve McCann, Mirenco's Director of Domestic Sales.
Jim Buckner, TARC Director of Maintenance, stated, "Mirenco's services have been a very strong contributing factor in identifying and reducing emissions from our older buses and improving the maintenance program for these vehicles."
The affordable DriverMax technology is an automated throttle control system which prevents excess, unburned diesel fuel from spewing out the tailpipe as soot by delivering only as much fuel as the engine can generate into power. The DriverMax technology accomplishes this through a solid state, electronic throttle delay and throttle stop that can easily be programmed with a hand-held computer. On a periodical basis, Mirenco analyzes and makes recommendations of each vehicle's combustion efficiency. In many cases, DriverMax can be re-programmed because mileage and emissions always diminish the condition of the engine over time and usage.
