WEATHER FORCES CANCELLATION OF NHRA'S LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING EVENT AT TEXAS
MOTORPLEX

GLENDORA, Calif. -- Inclement weather has forced NHRA South Central
division officials to postpone this weekend's season-opening NHRA Lucas Oil
Drag Racing Series event at Texas Motorplex. Persistent rain before the
event that has flooded the grounds and the forecast of rain for this
weekend led to the decision. The event has been rescheduled for Friday and
Saturday, July 30-31.
"The facility is flooded and we've got more weather coming," said
South Central division director Craig Hutchinson. "The facility is so
flooded that we can't even use the parking, similar to the problem we had
last fall at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series event here. And we're
expecting a lot more rain."
A new event schedule will be released for the race, which will now
be contested in two days instead of three. Texas Motorplex will host a
test-n-tune event Thursday, July 29.
The South Central division season will pick up with the next
scheduled event March 12-14 at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, Texas.
