ChevronTexaco Global Lubricants Introduces New Synthetic Turbine Oil
SAN RAMON, Calif.--Feb. 2, 20045, 2004---- New Lubricant Ideal for Modified Aviation-Type Gas Turbines Used in Power Generation and Marine Propulsion -- |
ChevronTexaco Global Lubricants, a leading provider of industrial lubricants and reliability solutions, today introduced a new synthetic turbine oil that significantly exceeds current performance levels for lubricants in the modified aviation-type gas turbine market. The new product, to be marketed as both Chevron Synthetic Turbine Oil SGT and Texaco Regal SGT 22, is a premium performance, synthetic polyolester-based turbine lubricant, designed for modified aviation-type gas turbines exposed to the most severe operating environment in non-aviation applications such as industrial power generation and marine propulsion.
"As modified aviation-type gas turbines gain in prevalence, a more sophisticated and application specific lubricant is needed," said Katherine Johnson, Industrial Specialist, ChevronTexaco Global Lubricants. "Our new synthetic turbine oil is specifically designed to meet the needs of this market, delivering the greatest level of system reliability and uptime. We believe no other lubricants designed for this market can meet the performance characteristics and benefits of our Chevron and Texaco branded SGT products."
Chevron Synthetic Turbine Oil SGT and Texaco Regal SGT 22 Benefits:
-- Superior viscosity-temperature characteristics of the synthetic polyolester provide outstanding low temperature fluidity to facilitate starting at low temperatures, while ensuring that an effective lubricant film is available under the most severe, high temperature conditions to protect critical components against wear
-- Outstanding oxidation and thermal stability of the synthetic polyolester base fluid and special additive system resists oil breakdown under severe, high temperature, high load conditions
-- Reduced coking tendency of the synthetic polyolester base fluid and additive system minimizes deposit formation on bearings and other areas exposed to the heat of the hot gases
-- Compatibility with normal engine and accessory metallic construction materials and elastomeric sealing compounds
-- High load carrying capacity ensures maximum protection against wear
-- The low volatility of the synthetic polyolester minimizes evaporative losses
Availability
Both synthetic turbine oils will be available in drums through ChevronTexaco marketers in North America by March 2004.
Chevron Synthetic Turbine Oil SGT and Texaco Regal SGT 22 meet the following standards:
-- U.S. Military Specification MIL-PRF-23699F Approval
