Gentex Automatic-Dimming Mirrors on Ford Minivans
ZEELAND, Mich., Feb. 24, 2004 -- Gentex Corporation , the leading supplier of automatic-dimming mirrors to the worldwide automotive industry, has begun shipping interior automatic-dimming mirrors for the new Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey.
Gentex auto-dimming mirrors automatically darken to reduce glare from the headlamps of vehicles approaching from the rear. The brighter the glare, the darker the mirrors become, making nighttime driving safer.
The interior mirror for the Freestar is standard on the SEL and Limited trim levels, and is optional as part of an electronics package on the SE and SES levels. The 2004 luxury Monterey features a Gentex mirror on the top two trim levels.
"The minivan market continues to hold its own, and our penetration into this segment continues to increase, as demonstrated by the addition of the Freestar and Monterey business," said Gentex Executive Vice President Garth Deur.
