GDT-Canada to Release Ninth Consecutive Data Update; Expanded Production to Enhance Data Delivery

TORONTO--Feb. 2, 20044, 2004--Geographic Data Technology Canada, a developer of premier map databases, today announced the update of Dynamap(R) Canada featuring increased street and address coverage and enhanced positional accuracy across Canada.

Enhancements and additions to Dynamap Canada v. 8.0 bring the database's total coverage to more than 1.0 million named road segments with address coverage for cities and towns with populations as low as 700. Using aerial imagery, GDT-Canada has positionally enhanced the accuracy of nearly 80,000 kilometres to within 12 metres to better model real-world conditions. This progress is coupled with an additional 13,000 kilometres of highway realignment to within 12 metres. The database now consistently achieves accuracy levels of less than 12 metres, with most areas achieving accuracy of four to six metres. Dynamap Canada street products integrate seamlessly at the Canadian-U.S. border for use with all United States Dynamap products.

As part of an on-going change detection process, block-face address accuracy updates are included for multiple urban areas of the nation. This release also provides the groundwork for positional accuracy enhancements of Edmonton, AB and Winnipeg, MB.

"We maintain our focus on continually improving the accuracy and completeness of our North American products," said John Cassidy, Director of the business GIS market for GDT.

GDT also announced plans to expand production of its Canadian map database by combining those capabilities with its U.S.-based production facility in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Company officials made this decision in order to leverage GDT's world-class database production facilities.

"I'm excited to announce this next step in our delivery strategy, with a continued desire to be the number one map database provider for the U.S. and Canada. This reaffirms our total commitment to the Canadian product line and assures that our North American customers and partners will benefit from product improvements and more robust enhancements," said Mike Gerling, President and CEO of GDT.
