Perot Systems Awarded Three-Year, $28 Million Contract With Budget Truck Rental

PLANO, Texas, Feb. 24, 2004 -- Perot Systems Corporation today announced that it had been awarded a three-year, $28 million information technology (IT) outsourcing contract extension with Budget Truck Rental, a division of Budget Rent A Car System, Inc.

As part of the contract, Perot Systems will continue to provide data center management, network and application support, desktop helpdesk, local telecommunications and procurement. In addition, the new contract will call for Perot Systems to absorb the support of Budget Truck Rental's call center operations, located in Redding, California. The majority of the work will take place in Denver, Colorado; Herndon, Virginia; and Plano, Texas.

With more than 2,500 locations nationally and roughly 1,100 employees, Budget Truck Rental is one of the nations premier consumer and commercial truck rental companies. Budget Truck Rental will operate a 2004 peak fleet of over 30,000 vehicles. Eighty-five hundred of these vehicles will be brand new 2004 GMC international trucks.

"As we strive to reach our goal of becoming the most admired and profitable retail truck company we understand the importance of choosing the right IT provider," said Jerry Riordan, President of Budget Truck Rental. "The superior level of service that Perot Systems has continuously demonstrated over for the past several years made this decision relatively easy. Perot Systems is, and will continue to be, a big reason for our success."

This contract extends an existing relationship dating back to 1997, with then Ryder TRS. The previous three-year contract with Perot Systems resulted in more than $8 million a year bottom line cost reductions.

"Perot Systems is extremely excited at the prospect of working with Budget Truck Rental for another three years as its IT provider of choice," said Scott Lang, Perot Systems vice president and Strategic Markets group leader. "By working together our two teams can continue to achieve outstanding financial results for the client, while also ensuring the highest quality of service is provided to Budget Truck Rental's customers."
