CARSON, Calif., Feb. 24, 2004 -- The Nissan Titan SE Crew Cab 4x4, powered by the 5.6L Endurance V-8, is the winner of Trailer Boats' 2004 Tow Vehicle of the Year competition. Editors of Trailer Boats magazine awarded this first-ever win for Nissan, and it comes on the heels of the debut of Nissan's first full-size pickup.

"Kudos for a great job right out of the gate," said Jim Hendricks Editorial Director/Editor Trailer Boats magazine. "Non-towing ride and handling of the Titan is excellent: Its styling is fresh and bold, and it is priced very competitively."

The Nissan Titan joins the ranks of the popular 1/2-ton pickup class, a category now filled with tow ratings and cargo capacities that historically have been the exclusive realm of 3/4-ton and HD 1/2-ton pickups. Trailer Boats says it is "a trend that had led us to call these trucks the '1/2-tons on steroids.'"

"Most importantly, the Titan's overall towing performance and towing ride and handling were tops and extremely well received among our testers," said Trailer Boats automotive editor, Stuart Bourdon. "This is why the editors of Trailer Boats magazine have voted it the 2004 Tow Vehicle of the Year."

The 22nd annual tow vehicle competition began with the testing of five 1/2-ton 4WD pickups. The field was then narrowed to three. Finalists included the Chevy Silverado 1500 Extra Cab (with Quadrasteer), the redesigned Ford F-150 SuperCrew and the new Nissan Titan SE Crew Cab. After weeks of data gathering and towing a 7840-pound trailer boat, the Trailer Boats' editors voted unanimously in favor of the Titan. The test results are detailed in the March 2004 issue of Trailer Boats.

Nissan touts the 2004 Titan as full-size in every possible way. Its overall dimensions leave no doubt that this is one big truck. According to Nissan, the Endurance 5.6L DOHC V-8 churns out pure class-leading muscle and for off-road prowess, bed versatility and 21st-century refinement, it stacks up with any 1/2-ton out there.
