Jamie McMurray Shooting for Four in a Row at Rockingham

 
MOORESVILLE, N.C., (February 18, 2004) --- Jamie McMurray is looking to pick 
up where he left off last season in the NASCAR Busch Series race at North 
Carolina Speedway.  McMurray, who will be piloting the No. 30 TRIMSPA Dodge for 
Braun Racing in this weekend’s Goody’s Headache Powder 200, will be gunning for 
his fourth win in a row at the 1.1-mile oval.
 
McMurray began his assault on “The Rock” in the fall of 2002 when he scored 
his first NASCAR Busch Series victory. The Joplin, Mo. native won both NASCAR 
Busch Series races at North Carolina Speedway last year season while driving 
for Phoenix Racing. 
 
McMurray is gunning for his fourth straight Busch Series victory at “The Rock”
 with his third different Busch Series race team. McMurray will have David 
Stremme, fulltime TRIMSPA driver for Braun Racing, as a teammate this weekend. 
Since the duo shared driving duties in the Yellow Freight Dodge last season, 
Rockingham should prove extra special, as Stremme and McMurray will be on the 
track at the same time in identical cars driving for the same team.
 
“I’m really happy that Braun Racing and TRIMSPA put this deal together to 
allow me to drive in the Busch race this weekend at Rockingham,” McMurray said. “
It’s cool to think I have the chance to go for four in a row. We’ve got a 
great car for the race and Randy Cox, who was with the No. 41 Target team last 
year, will be serving as my crew chief. There are also some Chip Ganassi Racing 
crew members that will be on my pit crew.”
 
“I don’t know what it is about Rockingham, but it just seems to fit me,” 
McMurray added. “I’ve had a lot of success there and it’s just one of those 
places that comes easy to me. Hopefully we’ll be in victory lane on Saturday 
celebrating our fourth straight win.”
 
While Jamie McMurray was the Raybestos Rookie of the Year in the Nextel Cup 
last season, his teammate Stremme earned the same honors in the Busch Series. 
 
“I love being teammates with Jamie (McMurray),” said Stremme. “You can race 
so much better when you have a teammate to go to with questions. The problem 
last year was that we shared driving duties so we were never running at the 
same track in the same series. Now we will be on the track at the same time and 
can share more information.”
 
McMurray and the TRIMSPA No. 30 Dodge team will hit the track Saturday, 
February 21, at 12:30 p.m. at the North Carolina Speedway for their first race of 
the 2004 season. The 200-mile event will be telecast live on FX and broadcast 
worldwide on MRN radio.
