Tripath Adds Two Panasonic Car Audio Design Wins

SAN JOSE, Calif.--Feb. 1, 20048, 2004--

  TA2041A-family is featured in Panasonic's CQ-VD7700U in-dash TV/DVD Receiver and CQ-C9700U Full Digital 4-by-60-Watt in-dash CD Player/Receiver

Tripath Technology Inc. , creators of Digital Power Processing (DPP(R)) technology and Class-T(TM) advanced 1-bit digital audio amplifiers, announced today that it has been chosen for two new Panasonic car audio products -- the CQ-VD7700U and CQ-C9700U -- in addition to the CQ-C9800U, which was previously announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January 2004.

The CQ-VD7700U is an in-dash (1-DIN) LCD TV/DVD/SD Receiver with 5.1-channel Dolby Digital/DTS and Dolby Pro Logic II. It incorporates a 7-inch (diagonal) wide screen LCD with touch panel and a digital high-power amplifier (70W x 4 max.) supplied by Tripath.

The CQ-C9700U offers a full-featured preamp, RDS tuner, CD player, display and remote control function as well as a Tripath digital high-power amplifier (60W x 4 max.), all in a 1-DIN size head unit.

"This digital amp produces less heat and results in less energy loss, enabling it to reach a high 80 percent efficiency rating in comparison to traditional amplifiers, which typically achieve only 50 percent efficiency," said Rob Lopez, National Marketing Manager for Panasonic car audio products. "The energy that's 'saved' is pumped into the car's speakers, delivering 70 watts (CQ-C9800U and CQ-VD770U) and 60 watts (CQ-C9700U) to each of four channels."

"We are pleased that Panasonic has again chosen Tripath to power these new, industry-leading automotive head units," said Graham Wright, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Tripath. "These products support our vision that the automotive audio consumer desires a similar entertainment experience in his/her car as in the home. Tripath's Class-T(TM) amplifiers are able to deliver audiophile-quality fidelity and power even in the harsh environment of the automobile."
