UTI Announces Appointment of Two New Directors
PHOENIX, Feb. 13, 2004 -- Universal Technical Institute, Inc. announced today that Conrad A. Conrad and Kevin P. Knight have been appointed to UTI's Board of Directors. Both Mr. Conrad and Mr. Knight will serve as members of UTI's audit committee, with Mr. Conrad serving as chairman of the audit committee. These appointments bring the membership of UTI's board of directors to seven.
Conrad Conrad has been employed with The Dial Corporation since August 2000, and currently serves as the company's Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Conrad held various audit and finance positions with Quaker State, a leading manufacturer of branded automotive consumer products and services, from 1974 until he was named President and Chief Operating Officer in 1990 and Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer in 1994. Prior to his employment with Quaker State, Mr. Conrad worked for Price Waterhouse & Co. and served two years in the U.S. Army Finance Corps.
Kevin Knight has served as Chief Executive Officer of Knight Transportation, a short-to-medium haul, dry-van truckload carrier based in Phoenix, since 1993, and he has served as an officer of the company since 1990. In 2001, Mr. Knight was named one of the 50 best CEOs in America by Worth Magazine. Mr. Knight has 28 years of experience in the truckload industry, and he is a director of the Arizona Motor Transport Association and the American Trucking Association.
