Torrance, CA 02/11/2004 The American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) recognized the Honda Civic GX and Honda Insight hybrid as the top two "greenest" vehicles for the 2004 model year in its annual rating of vehicle emissions and fuel economy performance. Honda vehicles captured five of the top twelve spots on ACEEE's list of greenest vehicles, including four different Honda Civic models, more than any other manufacturer.

"These ratings speak directly to the commitment we've made to leadership in emissions and fuel economy and we're thrilled to have five Honda models among the best in the industry," said Tom Elliott, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "The ACEEE ratings provide consumers with an important resource for evaluating the environmental component of their vehicle purchase."

The natural gas-powered Civic GX earned the title of "America's Greenest Car" by combining high-efficiency with near zero emissions performance. In second place, the Honda Insight hybrid offers the highest fuel economy for any gasoline-powered vehicle in America with available Super Ultra-Low Emissions. Other top Honda green performers include the popular Civic Hybrid, high-efficiency Civic HX Coupe and the standard Civic Sedan and Coupe. Other models receiving ACEEE's top rating of "Superior" include the Honda Accord, Honda CR-V sport-utility vehicle and Acura RS-X sports coupe.

Using its "Green Score" ranking system, ACEEE's Green Book(R) Online at www.greenercars.com rates the industry's "Greenest" and "Meanest" models: the 12 least polluting, most efficient vehicles; and the 12 worst. The Web site also identifies greener choices for a wide range of models and vehicle types.
