Sika Automotive Presents Sika Innovations 2004 at Auto Show Preview

MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich., Feb. 10, 2004 -- "Sika Innovations 2004" was presented to key automotive decision makers at an invitation-only breakfast hosted by Sika Automotive during the North American International Auto Show Industry Preview Days. The presentation, given by Kevin Casey, Sika's Vice President of Marketing, highlighted Sika's new Acoustic, Bonding, Reinforcing and Sealing technologies.

Mr. Casey's presentation also featured Sika capability for combining custom chemical formulations and application engineering with Sika's ability to validate and optimize effectiveness. These capabilities aid customers in meeting critical vehicle development objectives, including performance, weight reduction and cost effectiveness from concept to delivery.

In response to changing automotive requirements for improved occupant safety, Sika presented three structural reinforcing solutions: Sika Reinforcer, SikaFoam and SikaPower. SikaReinforcer is a preform expandable epoxy that provides structural reinforcing reducing crash impact, metal fatigue and improves noise, vibration and harshness (NVH). SikaFoam is a bulk two-component polyurethane foam, which provides structural reinforcing, has a 5-25 pcf and can be manually or robotically applied. SikaPower is a bulk epoxy hybrid crash resistant adhesive which provides structural reinforcing, the ability to bond dissimilar materials and allows for higher load carrying capability.
