Stremme Ready for First Restrictor Plate Start in the New TRIMSPA X32 Dodge

 
MOORESEVILLE, N.C. (Feb. 9, 2004) – David Stremme will have many firsts this 
weekend at Daytona International Speedway. The Hershey's Kisses 300 NASCAR 
Busch Series opener will be Stremme’s first restrictor plate race, his first race 
in the TRIMSPA X32 Dodge, and the beginning of his first full season of 
NASCAR competition. 
 
“I went down last Thursday for media day and it felt like the first day of 
school,” said Stremme, the 2003 Busch Series Rookie of the Year. “Its 
everyone's first look at each other. We all have new teams and a new look. It feels 
strange but it makes you excited to get going.” 

While first day jitters would be understandable in such a race, Stremme has 
proved resilient in these situations. Last season Stremme exploded on the 
NASCAR scene winning the Busch Series Rookie of the Year award despite running in 
only a third of the races. The 26-year old South Bend, Indiana native scored 
top-five finishes in his first Busch Series starts at the Milwaukee Mile and 
North Carolina Speedway. Now he looks to do even better at Daytona.

“I may be the new guy at Daytona, but the new aero package will even the 
field,” said Stremme. “For me it is good because the other Busch drivers don't 
have any more experience than I do running with this setup. I participated in 
the NASCAR test right before Christmas at Talladega and we were running the new 
package then so that might be an advantage for me. But we also have the cup 
guys who are coming over and running Busch. They have way more experience in the 
draft with this package, since it was on their cars a few years ago.” 

David Stremme has been at the center of a whirlwind month leading up to 
Daytona. Stremme, a Ganassi development driver, left Phoenix Racing in mid January 
where he was slated to drive the No. 1 Dodge. Braun Racing, where Stremme had 
already run two races at the end of last season, quickly signed the Busch 
Series standout to drive their TRIMSPA sponsored X32 Dodge. 

“Having those two races at the end of last year really gives me 100% 
confidence in the TRIMSPA team,” said Stremme. “I think Braun Racing will be even 
stronger this season because I can tell how far they have come with their 
equipment, employees, and organization even since last November.”

Adding to the anticipation of 2004, David Stremme also is slated as one of 
three drivers to appear in the new NASCAR Busch Series reality television show “
NBS 24/7”. The new show, starting February 16 at 8 p.m. on SPEED Channel, is 
designed to be a unique behind the scenes look at the week-to-week operations 
of a Busch Series race team. 

“I’m a big fan of reality shows like ‘The Real World’ and ‘American Chopper’
 so I was all for it when the idea came up,” admits Stremme. “Its kind of 
intimidating because we have no say-so in what goes on the show. We have had the 
production crew in the shop for a week now and they have quickly become 
another member of the TRIMSPA team. Our whole deal was signed late so they are 
getting some good content watching everyone in the shop and the front office 
hustle to get ready for the season in only three weeks.”

Stremme and the TRIMSPA X32 Dodge team will hit the track February 14 at 12 
p.m. in the inaugural race of the 2004 Busch Series season. The 300-mile event 
will be telecast live on NBC and broadcast worldwide on MRN radio.
