Jerry Mosingo Named COO of ASC Incorporated
DETROIT, Feb. 9, 2004 -- ASC Incorporated, a full-service specialty-vehicle development partner for automotive manufacturers, today announced Jerry L. Mosingo has been named chief operating officer, effective immediately. He replaces Scott Koepke, who has been named chief operating officer of ASC-Yachiyo Manufacturing Ltd. (AYM), an ASC joint venture company in Columbus, Ohio. Both executives will report to ASC's president and chief executive officer, Paul Wilbur. Mosingo's COO assignment is expected to last through 2004.
Mosingo most recently worked for Collins & Aikman Corp., where he had been chief executive officer and a member of that company's board of directors. Prior to his appointment as CEO in August 2002, he served as executive vice president for plastic components and cockpits, Collins & Aikman's largest operating unit with $1.8 billion in sales. Mosingo has more than 30 years of operating experience, and previously served in various senior operational and manufacturing positions within Textron Automotive Company's trim division prior to its acquisition by Collins & Aikman, positions including executive vice president of manufacturing and senior vice president of operations.
"ASC is extremely fortunate to have a businessman of Jerry's caliber for this assignment," said Wilbur. "We believe he will supercharge the performance of our operations. We especially look forward to tapping his expertise in launch performance and all-around manufacturing execution, and look forward as well to his assistance in eventually helping us choose a permanent COO."
"I know from our having worked together at Textron that Jerry Mosingo is a first-rate business executive, who will be a great asset to ASC," said John A. Janitz, co-managing principal of Questor Management Co., whose Questor Fund, a private equity fund, owns ASC. "His experience and his ability to drive world-class operational excellence and his highly collaborative approach to customer relations should all be of tremendous value to ASC as the company builds on its success following the recent launch of the Chevrolet SSR."
"We also wish Scott Koepke well in his new position at AYM," said Wilbur. "Honda [AYM's primary customer] is a very important customer for us and, returning to his native 'buckeye state,' Scott will help ensure that that relationship continues to be a strong one."
Koepke joined ASC in 1999 as president of ASC Composite Systems. He later served as president and COO of ASC Exterior Technologies (formerly JPE Inc.), where he achieved a turnaround of that organization's automotive-trim and aftermarket heavy-duty truck businesses. He was named ASC's COO in July 2002. Prior to ASC, he spent two decades at Owens Corning, most recently as president of that company's global engineered-pipe systems operations.
ASC's award-winning programs include vehicle development and sub-assembly of the Chevrolet SSR; convertible systems for the BMW Z4, Toyota Solara and Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder; and numerous body packages and supply programs for such products as the Dodge SRT-4, Dodge Viper SRT-10, Pontiac Grand Am SC/T, Chevrolet TrailBlazer North Face Edition, Saturn L Series and General Motors minivans. Founded in 1965 and headquartered in Southgate, Mich., the company employs more than 1,000 car nuts at ten facilities in the United States and Germany, and is on the Web at http://www.ascglobal.com/ .
