Drag Racing Event Series Provides Legal Alternative for Hundreds of Valley Street Racers

PHOENIX, Feb. 9, 2004 -- DragRacing.com today announced its Sport Compact Only Nights (SCO Nights) schedule for 2004. Organized by DragRacing.com, the SCO Nights series gives local sport compact and import performance enthusiasts a fun and safer alternative to the dangerous -- and all too often deadly -- street racing scene. Over the past two-plus years, each SCO Nights event has drawn more than 200 sport compact racers and over 1,000 friends and spectators to Firebird International Raceway in Chandler.

The events are sponsored by a number of prominent businesses, both local and national. Past sponsors have included TrimSpa, AutoTrader magazines, The Edge 103.9 FM, F1 Race Factory, Allied Waste, Southwest Autoworks, Superior Racing Development, and more than a dozen others. Each SCO Nights event features a number of racing and non-racing activities, including popular "Beat the Heat" races against modified patrol cars from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Department, modeling contests, car shows, and hits spun throughout the night by hot Valley DJs.

The official 2004 schedule consists of the following events, each of which is held on a Saturday evening from 7:00 to midnight at Firebird International Raceway in Chandler:

   *  September 25
   *  October 30
   *  December 11

Thousands of dollars in cash and prizes for both racing and non-racing activities are up for grabs in 2004. Entry fees are only $10 for spectators and $17 for racers, although numerous discounts are available. More information is available at http://www.dragracing.com/az .
