CarParts Technologies Chosen by Nation's Largest Specialty Exhaust Warehouse Distributor for Supply Chain Management Solution

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif.--Feb. 9, 2004--

Allied Exhaust Turns to CarParts Technologies for Cost Savings, Operational Improvements and Customer Relationship Management

CarParts Technologies Inc. (CPT), the leading provider of open, eCommerce and business automation software solutions for the automotive aftermarket, today announced that Allied Exhaust Systems, the nation's largest specialty exhaust warehouse distributor, has selected CarParts Technologies' software architecture to continue its growth and profitability.

Allied Exhaust will implement CarParts Technologies' state-of-the-art OpenWebs Commerce Server and DirectStep inventory management system in its warehouses which will provide streamlined inventory management and real-time Internet connectivity to allow the retail shops the ability to connect with the warehouses on multiple levels. Allied will also implement the VAST Point-of-Sale and Multi-Store auto service management system in its company-owned repair shops enabling access to a robust accounting and back office automation system that helps not only run their business, but build a strong customer base.

"Applying this state-of-the-art technology will take our business to an entirely new level," said Steve Blanding. "With tightly integrated and streamlined operations between our warehouses, our automotive care centers, retail shops, vendors and suppliers, we can continue to be leaders in the distribution of automotive exhaust products."

Based in Benecia, Calif., Allied is a leader in exhaust distribution with more warehouses that have product in stock than any other distribution company in the U.S. Allied has 18 warehouses in 10 states and is a major customer of leading exhaust manufacturers such as IMCO, Flowmaster, Walker and Magnaflow.

"Winning a major distributor like Allied Exhaust, confirms that our suite of integrated applications is what market dominant distributors need," said Dave McCann, CEO of CarParts Technologies. "This latest addition within the exhaust distribution channel strengthens the CPT footprint across the aftermarket and provides new connection points for the growing number of trading networks that are being deployed. Combined with our earlier contract awards at US Tire and Exhaust and at Full Line Exhaust this gives us a significant market share in major Exhaust Distributors across the country."

CarParts Technologies was selected after a year-long competitive selection process. The company emerged as the only software provider actively developing business automation systems that offer the best integration and communication solutions between customers, vendors, company-owned shops and warehouses.

"In the Internet era, aftermarket distributors can no longer rely on paper and phone ordering to match supplier fulfillment processes. As the market consolidates, distributors need to cut costs by enabling online services such as ordering, replenishment, returns, and even A/R in their relationships with downstream service outlets. And, service outlets don't want to be limited to browser-based services -- they want integrated replenishment coming directly from outside purchases within their POS. We can deliver on that today for companies like Allied Exhaust," added McCann.
