FISHER/UNITECH Engineer Takes First Place in North America in SolidWorks Model Mania Design Contest

TROY, Mich.--Feb. 9, 2004--FISHER/UNITECH, a leading engineering technologies firm, is proud to announce that Jon Benavides, an application engineer at the company, took first place in North America, second place in the world, in the annual "Model Mania" design contest at the SolidWorks World Reseller Conference, held January 17-19, 2004, in Boston, MA.

Model Mania is a timed contest in which participants are given a 2D drawing from which a 3D model must be created using SolidWorks(R) software. Only twenty minutes are allotted to both model the part and then to make design changes that are given to participants during the contest. Winners are determined based on accuracy and shortest time taken to design the part. The contest gauges the user's knowledge of not only SolidWorks functionality, but also their ability to apply design intent to a model.

"Jon Benavides' success in this competition is further evidence of FISHER/UNITECH's commitment to our customers," said Paul Oliver, Eastern Area Sales Manager for SolidWorks Corporation. "Having top-notch mechanical engineers who are certified and trained on SolidWorks(R) software to support customers locally has always been one of the cornerstones of SolidWorks success. We congratulate Jon and the entire FISHER/UNITECH team on this achievement and their dedication to customer satisfaction."
