DAN HENLEY JOINS ASA MEMBER TRACK STAFF
PENDLETON, Ind. (February 6, 2004) - Long-time motorsports executive Dan Henley
has joined the ASA Member Track program staff, serving as a consultant to national
director Dennis Huth for the 2004 season.
"I'm thrilled to become involved with the expanding ASA Member Track program in
2004," said Henley. "I'm looking forward to extending my relationship with Dennis Huth
and working hand-in-hand as a team with the dedicated weekly track promoters. The
ASA program is a great value and has a promising future in store for years to come."
Henley, 59, was employed at RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company for 32 years, initially
getting his start in the sales department. He then moved to sports marketing, managing
the accounts with the NASCAR Winston Cup Series and spent 12 years with the
Winston Weekly Racing Series. He has also been involved with the Camel Pro, a flat-
track motorcycle series, the Camel Supercross Series and Winston Drag Racing with
both the NHRA and IHRA.
"Dan and I have worked together on many successful projects in the past and have
enjoyed an excellent working relationship," said Huth, ASA Member Track national
director. "Dan's bond with many of the short track operators in this country is very solid
as well. All of us at ASA welcome Dan as a very positive addition to the ASA Member
Track team with a strong overall understanding of motorsports and sponsorship
overviews."
The ASA Member Track program is designed for weekly short track venues to make
available many of the policies, principles, procedures and components that have made
the American Speed Association a premier short track sanctioning body for 37 years.
Participating tracks receive contributions to their year-end points fund, marketing
opportunities, and join a small, select group of elite tracks displaying the ASA Member
Track logo.
ASA Member Tracks showcase exciting competition with their local racing programs,
providing training grounds for the ASA Racing stars of tomorrow. Through the ASA
