Nissan Europe Reports January Sales

TRAPPES, France, February 6 -- Nissan Europe reported total sales of 40,437 vehicles (See Note 1) in January 2004, an increase of 14% over the same month last year.

HIGHLIGHTS BY COUNTRY

- In France, Nissan sold 3,477 units in January, registering a 6% increase compared to last year.

- In Germany, Nissan sold 3,200 units in January, representing a decrease of 9% compared to last year.

- In Italy, Nissan sold 7,077 units in January, up 94% compared to last year.

- In Spain, Nissan sold 4,230 units in January, up 18% compared to last year.

- In the UK, Nissan sold 7,235 units, an increase of 0.4% compared to last year.

MODEL HIGHLIGHTS

- The Micra was Nissan's best-selling European model with a total of 11,900 unit sales in January representing an increase of 72 % against the same month last year.

- X-TRAIL sales increased by 24% in January against the same month last year to 4,881 units.

- Pickup sales increased by 8% in January against the same month last year to 3,197 units.

Nissan employs around 12,000 people in its European design, research and development, manufacturing, logistics, and sales and marketing operations. Last year, the company produced a total of 448,513 vehicles in its Spanish and British plants and sold 542,292 vehicles in Europe. Nissan Europe's Head Office is based in Trappes (Paris), France.
