Cadillac® Named Official Vehicle Of SCCA Pro Racing®
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Sports Car Club of America, Inc. (SCCA®) announced today that Cadillac has become the "Official Vehicle of SCCA Pro Racing."
The agreement compliments Cadillac's initial foray into the SCCA SPEED World Challenge GT Championship, announced January 1. Through the partnership, SCCA Pro Racing provides Cadillac a number of unique opportunities to promote its products in assorted advertising and marketing campaigns.
"Cadillac is renowned for being one of the world's premium luxury brands, and its technical prowess and new emphasis on high performance makes for a perfect fit for SCCA Pro Racing," SCCA Pro Racing President and CEO Steve Johnson said. "We're thrilled to have Cadillac sign on as our first official vehicle."
"The SCCA is a natural choice for us, and is further evidence of the changes taking place at Cadillac," Cadillac General Manager Mark LaNeve said. "The World Challenge GT Series offers us the opportunity to compete on the track with the same competitors we go up against in the marketplace."
As part of the Official Vehicle program, Cadillac vehicles, including the new CTS-V, will not only be on display at each SCCA SPEED World Challenge event, but will be utilized in on-track activities surrounding the series. As part of the marketing exposure package associated with the agreement, Cadillac will become the primary sponsor of the SCCA SPEED World Challenge Cadillac Live Web Timing. The CTS-V race car is by weight 73 percent stock-derived based on the CTS-V, Cadillac's first entry into the low-volume, high-performance luxury car niche. The production CTS-V and CTS-V race car share common technology - in the form of the all-aluminum V-8 engine, front and rear suspension, steering system, differential and halfshafts - and talent, as the engineers who conceived the CTS-V for street use were directly involved in the creation of the race car.
SCCA Pro Racing Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Sports Car Club of America, Inc., owns, organizes and operates the SCCA SPEED World Challenge GT and Touring Car Championships, North America's best production car road racing series. A member of the Automobile Competition Committee of the United States (ACCUS/FIA), SCCA Pro Racing also provides sanction for the Motorock Trans-Am Tour, Cooper Tires Championship Series, Formula Drift and Mazdaspeed Miata Cup Presented by Hankook Tires.
The SCCA SPEED World Challenge season will make its first standing start of 2004 at Sebring International Raceway for the fourth-consecutive year as part of the 52nd Mobil1 Twelve Hours of Sebring week March 17-20. In 2004, the series will visit Lime Rock Park, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Infineon Raceway, Portland International Raceway, Mosport International Raceway, Road America, Road Atlanta Motorsports Center and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
