Maptuit and Navigation Technologies Announce Alliance in Support of Truck Industry

BURLINGTON, Mass.--Feb. 4, 2004--

Companies Collaborate to Develop an Enhanced Trucking Attribute Product for North America

Maptuit(TM) Corporation, a leading provider of transportation optimization solutions for the trucking industry, today announced it has formed an alliance with Navigation Technologies. Maptuit and Navigation Technologies are working together to develop an enhanced trucking attribute product for the North American road network to meet the specialized needs of the heavy truck market.

"We are pleased to be working with Maptuit Corporation," said Bob Denaro VP and General Manager - North American Business Solutions Unit for Navigation Technologies. "Maptuit has shown an unparalleled commitment in developing industry-leading products in support of the trucking industry. Together we look forward to continuing to develop exceptional navigation solutions that will address the specialized needs of the professional driver."

Maptuit has developed its Maptuit FleetNav Suite(TM), a transportation optimization solution, to help trucking companies increase efficiencies and improve their bottom line through intelligent routing, fuel optimization and fleet monitoring capabilities. In addition, Maptuit has developed a proprietary trucking network database to help the professional driver safely navigate along the North American road network. This map database includes truck specific attributes such as truck-approved roads, location of tolls, hazardous roads, low clearance and weight restrictions, and location of fuel stops. This proprietary database is constantly updated through live feedback received from Maptuit customers. Deployed in tens of thousands of trucks across North America, Maptuit is providing solutions to help trucking companies navigate along the road network safely and efficiently.

Navigation Technologies has built a map database unrivaled in quality and precision, employing one of the industry's most comprehensive development and quality control programs, executed by an extensive team of over 550 field researchers. From turn restrictions to relative road crossing heights, every road segment captured in the NAVTECH(R) database has up to 160 data attributes such as access restrictions, one-way streets and speed categories that help optimize navigation. Additionally, NAVTECH maps include Points of Interest (POI) in approximately 50 categories in North American and approximately 40 in Europe including restaurants, hospitals, shopping centers and leisure facilities, making it easier to locate and route to so many different destinations. NAVTECH maps span 40 countries on four continents.

"Our relationship with Navigation Technology deepens our commitment to providing our customers the best transportation optimization solutions," stated Jeff Papows, CEO of Maptuit. "Through this relationship, we will further improve the routes we send our drivers, and offer the trucking industry the most powerful navigation solution to ensure their trucks are safely and cost effectively traveling throughout North American road network."
