Avis Brings Innovative Motorola GPS Device to the West Coast
with Launch of 'Avis Assist'
Demonstrations Available at LAX on February 5-6

WHAT: 1. "Avis Assist," a satellite-based navigation system developed
by Motorola for Avis will now be available on the West Coast,
including at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
Avis Assist allows customers to rent a Motorola phone with
VIAMOTO software, a location-based navigation service that
literally 'talks them through' directions to a destination,
speaking street names and maneuvers along the way. The unit
can be rented with any Avis vehicle and is portable so it can
be used out of the car as well - perfect for visitors who are
unfamiliar with the city.
Other cities premiering Avis Assist this month include Las Vegas,
Oakland, Phoenix, Portland, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose,
Santa Ana, Salt Lake City and Seattle.
2. Avis Rent A Car System, Inc. will also present Christopher
Kinsman of Santa Monica, California, the keys to his grand
prize "SUV for a year" for submitting the winning entry in
the 2003 "Who Tries Harder" contest. The contest celebrated
the 40th anniversary of Avis' famous "We Try Harder" slogan
by asking customers to write in about an employee who tries
