Specter Werkes Daytona 2004 Update
Specter Werkes #24 Cauley Corvette GTR
presented by Highlander
On Pace at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona
Team overcomes loose front wheel bearing in tenth hour
Daytona Beach, Fla – January 31, 2004 After ten and one half hours, the
#24 Cauley Corvette GTR presented by Highlander continues its run at
the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona.
“Right now, the car is very good,” said crew chief, Danny Kellermeyer.
“We’ve had a few minor ups and downs… but all-in-all, we’re quite
pleased. A power steering belt let go in the first hour and just after
the eighth hour we had a front wheel bearing loosen on us. But the guys
did a great job getting the car back on the track and everything
appears to be pretty sound.”
“The drivers have been extremely consistent,” continued Kellermeyer.
“They’ve all done a great job of keeping their lap times in our speed
window and have been very easy on the car. Their lap times have been
extremely close throughout each stint..”
“There is a lot of racing left, so hopefully all of our problems are
behind us,” he added. “We’re a little off on our fuel mileage, so we’ll
need to keep a close eye on that… but, I think we’re settling in to a
good pace.”
The team is currently running 17th in class and 42nd overall.
