An Asphalt Rush on Three Wheels: BMW Designs New SlideCarver With Driving Dynamics From the BMW 5 Series

Sleek, Hi-Tech Scooter Handles the Tightest of Corners Like No Other BMW

WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Jan. 30 -- Say goodbye to tedious scooter rides with the new BMW SlideCarver, a sleek three-wheel scooter engineered with BMW 5 Series driving dynamics at your feet for a smooth, fun ride that catches air and glides over asphalt.

The stylish BMW SlideCarver offers amazing response with the 5 Series Sedan pendulum support integrated into the aluminum chassis, handling the tightest of corners with comfort and stability.

SlideCarver Borrows Elements From StreetCarver

The SlideCarver is a sister product design to the StreetCarver, the award-winning skateboard that introduced a new genre of mobility engineered with BMW technology. Carver enthusiasts will revel in the nimble, hi-tech scooter's front-wheel suspension system that allows for maximum agility and roadholding.

Unlike ordinary scooters, the SlideCarver is steered both in the front and back, so it can virtually turn and pivot on the point. The progressive steering action allows riders to shift weight and change direction while maintaining full control, and the Magura twin-disc brakes ensure a safe ride with smooth stops. Other safety features include wide tires equipped with wear indicators, showing when it is necessary to replace the running surface.

When enthusiasts need a rest from carving turns, the BMW SlideCarver can be folded and quickly stored into a trunk or locker. The SlideCarver has a patented folding mechanism with a quick release, which can be operated easily by hand.

BMW Design Philosophy Rides on Three Wheels

The SlideCarver was designed by the Munich Studio of DesignWorksUSA, the California-based international strategic design consultancy owned by BMW Group, in collaboration with BMW Group Design. The concave, symmetrical deck of the BMW SlideCarver features lines that are accelerated, yet harmonious. The forms are sculptural and show motion just as expressive as the Z4 roadster design, with proportions being tight and forward-oriented.

The BMW SlideCarver stands 39.5 inches high by 20 inches wide, has a 26.5-inch wheelbase and weighs approximately 26.5 pounds. It is recommended for riders age 12 and up.

The BMW SlideCarver retails for $695 and is available at BMW dealerships, at www.bmw-online.com or by calling 888-269-6654.
