Chrysler Group Minority Dealers Generate $3.5 Billion in Sales in 2003

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Jan. 30 -- Chrysler Group announced today that its Minority Dealer Network generated $3.5 billion in sales and earned gross profits of $455 million in 2003, while also exceeding corporate averages in new vehicle sales and revenues per outlet. The announcement was made at Chrysler Group's Minority Dealer Awards Ceremony in Las Vegas as part of the 87th annual National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) Convention.
Sales per dealership among Chrysler Group minority dealers averaged 811 new vehicles last year, generating average revenues of $31.9 million.
"Chrysler Group's minority dealers are proving that not only can they sustain high levels of profitability in a difficult market environment, but in many cases, their performance is reaching benchmark levels," said Joe Eberhardt, Chrysler Group Executive Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing.
"One of our long-term business objectives has been to grow the number of profitable minority dealers in our system, and it's working," added Eberhardt. "The $3.5 billion in sales that was generated by Chrysler Group's minority dealers last year was more than many 'Fortune 500' companies." Chrysler Group's Minority Retail Dealer Development Training Program was started in 1983 as part of the Company's continuing efforts to broaden owner/operator opportunities for minorities, increase the number of minority dealers, and actively contribute to their growth and success. Over the past 20 years, Chrysler Group has invested more than $200 million in the program.
Chrysler Group's Minority Retail Dealer Development Training Program is a 12-month program designed to increase minority dealer business capabilities, with the end goal of developing future general managers and more qualified minority dealer candidates.
