Duranar SPF Coatings by PPG Industrial Finishes Saluted by Architectural Record
SPRINGDALE, Pa.--Jan. 2, 20049, 2004--Duranar SPF coatings by PPG Industrial Finishes was selected one of the Best Products of 2003 by Architectural Record magazine."This is an important accomplishment," said Keith Prins, general manager of PPG Industrial Finishes. "We strive to develop green products and products that make a positive contribution to the building industry. Duranar SPF coatings help create environmentally friendly buildings, which is increasingly important to today's architects."
Duranar SPF coatings, launched at the 2003 AIA National Convention in San Diego, is specially formulated using infrared reflective pigments to increase the reflectivity of medium to dark colors. Architects can now specify PPG's reflective coatings for metal roofs without sacrificing color choices. In addition, Duranar SPF coatings meet ENERGY STAR requirements for roof products to reduce the amount of heat absorbed by a structure.
Architectural Record, the architectural industry's leading trade publication, annually publishes a review of products in several categories to determine the most innovative. The publication appoints a panel of the country's top architects to review and evaluate the products. Duranar SPF coatings was reviewed in the Metals, Woods & Plastics category and was the only metal coating recognized in Architectural Record's December issue.
"Many of our existing PPG colors already meet ENERGY STAR requirements without using IR pigments. But development of Duranar SPF coatings allows us to offer reflective coatings in a much broader color range," Prins adds.
