ASA RACING IS NEW RPM AND RPM WORKSHOPS SPONSORS
PENDLETON, Ind. (January 27, 2004) - The American Speed Association, a 37-year-
old sanctioning body, and its new ASA Member Track program, will co-sponsor Racing
Promotion Monthly, the idea newsletter for auto racing promoters, and the RPM
Promoters Workshops, national conventions for promoters, under a new multi-year
agreement which takes effect in March 2004.
In announcing the agreement, Steve Dale, President/CEO of ASA Racing said, ASA
Racing is pleased to become a sponsor of Racing Promotion Monthly and the RPM
Promoters Workshops. RPM provides valuable services to America's weekly race tracks.
ASA, its employees, and especially Dennis Huth, director of the ASA Member Track
program look forward to supporting our current and future member tracks and all of
North America's oval track operators, by sponsoring RPM and the Workshops."
"I am pleased to announce the sponsorship by ASA Racing." said Stewart Doty, editor of
Racing Promotion Monthly and chairman of the annual conventions for auto racing
promoters. For more than three decades ASA has been a short track innovator and for
the last decade the premier televised short track series. With this sponsorship ASA
shows promoters its commitment to weekly schedule tracks nationwide. Weekly race
tracks, the backbone of oval racing, provide entertainment in more than a thousand
communities across North America and build tomorrow's champions.
"ASA fits well with co-sponsors K&K Insurance and Hoosier Racing Tire. The primary
business of all three companies is short track racing, and they are committed to
strengthening the industry which feeds racing's record growth," said Doty.
The American Speed Association offers racing on three levels: the ASA National Tour,
ASA Late Model Series and the ASA Member Track program. The 18-race 2004 ASA
National Tour will be televised on SPEED Channel. The inaugural 14-race season for
the ASA Late Model Series begins in May at Madison (Wis.) International Speedway.
ASA's growing community of Member Tracks currently stands at 10 with more to be
announced soon. ASA Racing is headquartered in Pendleton, Ind. The leading short
track innovator, ASA was the first short track tour to be nationally televised, to mandate
mufflers on its race cars, the first to adopt the 9:1 engine, the V-6 engine, and the first to
use a Competition Yellow Flag. ASA Racing was the first short track series to introduce
a series specific race car designed to resemble as closely as possible its street model. In
2000, ASA became the first oval series to use a sealed crate engine in national
competition, significantly reducing entrant costs.
Racing Promotion Monthly, the idea newsletter for auto racing promoters, is a limited-
circulation monthly publication for auto race track owners and promoters. Racing
Promotion Monthly produces the RPM Promoters Workshops, the national conventions
for race track operators. The 31st RPM Promoters Workshops Series concludes in two
weeks at Daytona Beach, Fla. Information about a subscription to RPM, or registration
for the RPM Promoters Workshops, is available from the editorial offices of Racing
Promotion Monthly at P.O. Box 427, Green Lake, WI 54941, or by calling 920-294-0830.
