Terry Borcheller - 2004 Rolex 24 Daytona Preview

Terry Borcheller will start two championship quests this week.  The 
Gainesville, Ga., driver will aim for a repeat of his 2003 Grand American Rolex Sports 
Car Series DP championship and his first Grand-Am Cup Series title, after 
finishing a close second in 2003.

Rolex 24

Borcheller will again team with Forest Barber of Fort Worth, Tex., in the 
2004 Rolex Series, driving the No. 54 Bell Motorsports Doran JE4 powered by 
Pontiac.  They will be joined by Andy Pilgrim of Delray Beach, Fla., and Christian 
Fittipaldi of Key Biscayne, Fla., for the first race of the season, the Rolex 
24 at Daytona.  With a strong field of competitors, Borcheller said the team 
needs a flawless race.

"I'm very excited about the number of cars that will be there for the 24 
Hours, and the season looks to be awesome," he said.  "The team has been preparing 
over the winter and we should be ready.  We need to try to stay out of the 
pits as much as possible, run the strongest pace that we can run and only come 
into the pits for scheduled stops.  If we can do that, we feel we've got a 
really good chance."

Cup changes

Borcheller will join his rivals for the 2004 Grand-Am Cup season, driving the 
No. 44 TheRaceSite.com Racing Porsche 996 prepared by Phoenix ProMotions, 
which took Joe and Wayne Nonnamaker to the GSII championship last year.  
Borcheller's co-driver will be Craig Stanton of Long Beach, Calif.,  replacing John 
Krieg of Dallas.

"I'm really excited to be co-driving with Craig Stanton," Borcheller said.  
"He is a very good friend of mine and I know we're going to have a really good 
car.  The Porsche 996 was the car to have last year and I think it will be a 
great car for 2004 also.  It's going to be a tremendous effort.

"John Krieg decided to do another year of the Ferrari Challenge and I'll be 
coaching him there.  He looks to do the Grand-Am Cup in 2005.  I really 
appreciate John's continuing support and interest in racing together."

Borcheller won the first time he drove a Porsche race car, in a six-hour race 
at Watkins Glen International in 1998.

Borcheller will race with the colors of his returning sponsors - K&N 
Performance Filters, Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving, Alpinestars, 
Bell Helmets, Goodyear and Infinity2 Nutrition.

He will be supported by Dave Arnold, who will provide statistics and website 
support, photographer Rick Dole and media officer Sylvia Proudfoot.

The Daytona Grand-Am Cup race is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 30 from 2:30 pm 
to 5:30 pm, and the Rolex 24 at Daytona from 1 pm on Saturday, Jan. 31 to 1 pm 
on Sunday, Feb. 1.  Both races will be run on the 3.56-mile Daytona 
International Speedway road course in Daytona Beach, Fla.

The Rolex 24 at Daytona will be telecast live on pee Channel on Saturday, 
Jan. 31 from 1 pm to 9 pm and on Sunday, Feb. 1 from 6 am to 1:30 pm.  The 
Grand-Am Cup race will air on Speed Channel on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 4 pm.
