Race Ramblings from Wayne

First, my condolences to the family and friends of Drag Racing photo journalist John Raffa, who left us last week at the age of 69.

It's HERE!

Yes, believe it or not, the 2004 race season is here!

NASCAR Grand National West (The former Winston West) started it's season at Phoenix International Raceway, with Ken Schrader winning the United Rentals 150.

This Wednesday, January 28, the decision will be made by Judge Frank Otte in Indianapolis as to who gets to pick at CART's bankrupt carcass . . . personally, I hope it's the IRL . . . , nothing personal re: the OWRS group, but team owners should not run a sanctioning body!

On track hostilities begin this Thursday in Daytona as the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series and Grand Am Cup Series prepare for their season openers next weekend, including the Rolex 24.

SCCA has announced that they have signed a letter of intent to license the Trans-Am series name and rights to a group other than Paul Gentilozzi's OWRS . . . interesting, as OWRS announced in December they had purchased the name and rights to run the Trans Am Series . . . Could be SCCA does not expect OWRS to win the CART feud or OWRS spent all of it's $ going after CART!

I'll be in Daytona starting next Wednesday afternoon, leaving late Friday (I know, I'm missing the Rolex 24, but I've been to plenty of them, both working and racing, and have a more pressing engagement with my son!). If you'll be there and you'd like to spend a few minutes talking about your headwear and polo needs, drop me a line here, or give me a call, and I'll make sure to stop by! You'll also be able to reach me there by cell . . . 813.503.5628!

I'm sure you're approached daily by vendors who want to, "make you an offer you can't refuse." There are literally hundreds of companies selling caps . . . so how do you sort through the quagmire? Here are the questions you should ask:

1) References - Who do they do business with? Are they well known brands?

2) Factories - Do THEY own them? How many do they own? What is their capacity? Can they deliver in a timely manner?

3) Contact - Can you reach them when you need to?

4) Samples - What does their finished product look like? And not only on the outside . . . take the hat apart, turn it inside out, look in the sweatband . . . is it a hat you would want your brand on?

5) Artwork - Can they provide you with artwork? Even if you have a logo, a Mfr should have their own art department to help you.

If any of the above is suspect, then perhaps they're not the vendor for you!

Head Start Caps is the name BEHIND many of today's top brands. We can deliver from our offshore facilities, after sample approval, in as few as 25 days (though we recently delivered, from PO, through sampling, to delivery, in 21 days) by air, and our sea shipments have been averaging 49 days. Domestically we can deliver 96 pieces and up in 7-10 days after sample approval!

Head Start Caps works WITH you . . . if we can't perform for you, then you can't sell product . . . if you can't sell product, we can't perform for you! We understand the two way street!

It's not JUST a hat, it's a STATEMENT!

It's not just a brand, it's YOUR BRAND!

It's getting YOUR hats ON TIME and at the RIGHT PRICE!

It's not about us, it's about YOU, and YOUR CUSTOMERS!

Head Start Caps, THE headwear people . . . We're Customercentric!
