Raytheon Infrared Announces Expanded Availability of NIGHTDRIVER System

DALLAS, Jan. 23, 2004 -- The NIGHTDRIVER(TM) system offered by Raytheon Infrared for the HUMMER(TM) H1 and H2 now will be more widely available. In an effort to better service the HUMMER community, NIGHTDRIVER now will be available through HUMMER dealerships, current distributors and other distribution partners including HUMMER accessories websites and HUMMER upfitters and customizers.

The NIGHTDRIVER system is the only thermal imaging automotive driving system offered for the HUMMER H1 and HUMMER H2. The thermal imaging technology developed by Raytheon senses heat emitted from objects in the view of the camera and produces an image of the scene. NIGHTDRIVER uses an exterior-mounted infrared camera to detect and instantly project thermal images using a head-up display (HUD). Images of people, animals and debris that cannot be seen in the dark are projected on the HUD and can be seen easily by the driver, allowing the driver time to react and avoid an accident.

"The popularity of this product," said President of Raytheon Infrared Chris Bade, "led us to the decision that we need to make it more readily available to HUMMER owners. Additional distribution channels will make it even easier for HUMMER owners and HUMMER dealers to purchase and install NIGHTDRIVER. HUMMER owners take a lot of pride in their vehicles and customize them for comfort and safety," stated Bade. "The NIGHTDRIVER night vision system provides a unique technology and added safety."

Industry analysts have consistently stated that thermal imaging night vision equipment will become widely available on the majority of automobiles and light duty trucks by the year 2010. A large number of key automobile manufacturers are currently working to introduce night vision technology on select models in the very near future.

Raytheon Infrared is the sole manufacturer of thermal imaging night vision technology products for the automotive industry. In addition to the HUMMER H1 and H2 NIGHTDRIVER products, all 2004 Cadillac Deville models have the Raytheon-manufactured Cadillac Night Vision(TM) available as an option.
