Ted Poland, Parts Manager at Bob Townsend Ford in Cincinnati, Ohio, participated in OEConnection's D2D Plus pilot program in December. He said, "Using D2D Plus, I was able to identify and make the decision to discount our 12-month-old idle inventory within minutes. This is going to be a significant tool to help us reduce idle inventory and open up funding. The reporting will help us make better buying decisions to better stock our inventory. Dealerships should use this tool if they want to be competitive, are looking to be more profitable and want to be in better control of their inventories."
OEConnection CEO Chuck Rotuno said, "By adding D2D Plus to OEConnection's suite of supply chain products, we've created an automated solution aimed at addressing a greater number of auto dealers' needs. This product is the next step in the evolution of OEConnection's vision for improving efficiency, customer satisfaction and dealership profitability in the OE replacement parts supply chain."
D2D Plus is a companion product to OEConnection's D2DLink(R) online parts locator and procurement service. The D2DLink parts locating and fulfillment tool is subscribed to by over 10,000 auto dealerships across the U.S., performing over 75,000 part searches each business day.
The D2D Plus tool features: 1. Idle Inventory Marketing - Offers dealers the ability to list parts in their own inventories for sale at discounted prices. Helps dealers identify and discount slow-moving stock, and then offer parts for sale to D2DLink dealers nationwide. All D2DLink buying dealers can view the lowest priced parts first when searching for parts. 2. Inventory Reporting - Helps identify missed opportunities and in- demand parts to help dealers to stock the right parts. 3. Parts Bundling and Matching - Selling dealers can combine unwanted, miscellaneous parts into bundles, and discount those bundles for availability on OEConnection's nationwide parts locator. Buying dealers can automatically search for and match 'for-sale' bundled parts to their on-hand stock and purchase needed parts at a reduced price.
OEConnection will demonstrate and take orders for D2D Plus along with their other products at the NADA Convention in booth #1001 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, January 31-February 3, 2004.
