Announcing 888 NYC-PARK: Beat Your Parking Ticket From Your Car
New York's beleaguered motorists can now use their cell
phone to help beat a weekday avalanche of over 40 thousand
parking summonses.
The new (1) 888 NYC-PARK automated telephone system is
powered by the technology of parkingticket.com and will be
demonstrated to the press in the White & Gold Room of the Plaza
Hotel, Banquet Floor, on Tuesday, January 20th, 2004 at 11:00
A.M.
888 NYC-PARK allows anyone, no matter where they are, to
start fighting their parking ticket by simply calling the (1)
888 NYC-PARK phone number.
"Over ten million summonses are issued annually in New York
City," declared parkingticket.com President, Glen Bolofsky,
"and now, for the first time ever, people will be able to
instantly fight a ticket the very moment it is issued."
Most people don't even know they can fight their parking
tickets let alone have the time to go to court or write a
letter that details their defense. "The (1) 888 NYC-PARK system
provides a convenient way to contest a summons from your car,
home or office," states Bolofsky.
The January 20th, 2004 press conference will feature a live
demonstration of the (1) 888 NYC-PARK automated system. The
press is invited to bring outstanding parking summonses and
give the system a work over.
At no additional cost, (1) 888 NYC-PARK will request an
official copy of a summons in the event the original copy was
either mutilated or is hard to read. Maximizing public
convenience the service is available 24 hours a day, seven days
a week.
Fighting a parking ticket by phone is quick, easy and convenient:
-- Customer calls: (1) 888 NYC-PARK
-- Enters parking ticket into telephone using phone keypad
-- Enters credit card information
-- "Sends" information to parkingticket.com website
-- Customer can instantly access their ticket information on the
parkingticket.com website when they return to their home or office
-- The website will provide specific instructions which includes either a
confidential, customized dismissal letter, a request for an official
copy of the original summons or a notification to pay the fine
expeditiously in order to avoid penalties
Mark Conrad, a former New York City Parking Violations Judge
who helped design the (1) 888 NYC-PARK system said that it
would make it easier for people to respond expeditiously and to
gain dismissals. "It will even facilitate the City's swifter
adjudication of parking tickets," he said, "by providing a
standardized format to allow a more efficient review of each
contested summons."
If a summons that led to a car being towed away is contested
and won, he pointed out, not only is the summons fine
eliminated, but the accompanying towing charge is killed as
well.
Retired New York City Police Officer Frank Signorile pointed
out that a system like this would do a lot to increase the
public's awareness that a summons can be easily and legally
disputed without giving the issuing Officer a hard time. "This
will make it easier for the guys in the field," stated Officer
Signorile, and "people can start fighting their tickets
instantly using their cell phones."
The (1) 888 NYC-PARK system will officially commence service
at 5 P.M. January 20th, 2004 at the heart of the New York City
evening rush hour.
The new ticket-fighting-by-phone service will also be
available in San Francisco by dialing (1) 888 SAN-PARK and in
Washington, D.C. by dialing (1) 888 DC-PARKING.
