MERCEDES TAKES SENNHEISER PX NOISE CANCELING HEADPHONES FOR A RIDE
OLD LYME, CONNECTICUT: Sennheiser, the Mercedes of headphone manufacturers, has teamed up with - well, the Mercedes of automobile manufacturers, announcing a deal to supply DaimlerChrysler with Rear Seat Entertainment headphones for the Mercedes Benz S and E Class automobiles. Designated as the PX 200 Mercedes Benz Headphones, these units will be sold as an accessory for the optional DVD Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) systems in the company's S and E class cars.Modifications to the PX 200 include an in-line volume control, "Mercedes Benz" and "Sennheiser" logos on the headband and a soft pouch carrying case instead of the usual hard case. Mercedes Benz first showed the headphones at the IAA international car show in Frankfurt, Germany in September, where they generated very promising customer feedback.
Sennheiser's PX 200 ultra-lightweight, collapsible mini headphones deliver outstanding, powerful, punchy bass and a detailed sound that is ideal for all types of modern music. The PX 200 headphones were awarded the "Design & Engineering Showcase Honors" for 2003 at the International CES. Their design incorporates adaptive baffle damping (patent pending) and offers excellent passive isolation, with the closed design and soft ring ear pads reducing undesirable ambient noise at frequencies above 1,200Hz by -15dB to -25dB.

This is the second business deal to be struck by Sennheiser with an automobile manufacturer. The company also supplies a slightly modified version of the collapsible PXC 250 headphones with proprietary NoiseGard(tm) active noise compensation to Volkswagen for use with its RSE Package in the new top-of-the-line Phaeton sedan and Touareg sport utility vehicle. Bremermann: "Our revolutionary NoiseGard noise compensation system and the innovative technology of the Phaeton and Touareg - that's a perfect match."
