Infiniti's New AWD G35 Billboard to Display Current Weather Conditions to New Yorkers

- The Weather Channel(R) to Provide Current Weather Content on Unique LED Billboard -

NEW YORK, Jan. 15 -- Infiniti, the luxury division of Nissan North America, Inc., today announced that it has teamed up with The Weather Channel and weather.com(R) to help promote the new Infiniti G35 AWD sedan and its ability to "change with the weather."

Beginning January 15, 2004 (through April 15, 2004), The Weather Channel will provide current weather data to an LED screen that is featured on an Infiniti G35 AWD billboard that's located at the corner of 34th Street and 7th Avenue in Manhattan. The billboard was created by Nissan's agency, TBWA\Chiat\Day, based in Playa del Ray, California. "In our minds, it made sense to partner with Infiniti from a brand perspective," said Kathy Lane, vice president, public relations for C. "Both established brands represent trust, expertise and relevance, and these are attributes that consumers value and appreciate. This partnership is a technological first for The Weather Channel, and we're thrilled with the end result."

The various weather-related images, which will be shown for approximately 4 seconds each, provide current weather information about NYC and the tri-state area. These dynamic images will include such information as the current temperature and precipitation, local forecasts, national weather outlook and weather-related travel updates. The LED billboard will display these images 24 hours a day to provide New Yorkers with the latest weather information that could impact their day and travels.

"We thought this was an excellent opportunity to show our product and demonstrate our advanced all wheel drive technology in a fun, informative and relevant way," said Steve Wilhite, vice president, marketing for Nissan and Infiniti." He added, "We know the Northeast can produce a variety of quickly changing weather conditions throughout the year. The G35 allows drivers to enjoy all of them with a high level of performance, safety and comfort."

The new G35 AWD, which went on sale in December, features Infiniti's state-of-the-art ATTESA E-TS(TM) all-wheel drive system, an active torque distribution management system with an electro-magnetic clutch (no center differential). The advantages of this system are smooth starts and good traction and maneuverability on snowy roads and minimal compromise of rear-wheel drive performance characteristics on dry roads. From a standing start, the ATTESA system adjusts the front-to-rear torque distribution, adding 25 percent to the front wheels for a more powerful start. The system then quickly adjusts torque distribution as needed, sending up to 100 percent to the rear wheels if conditions warrant, or adjusting the front drive percentage up to 50 percent as needed.
