Centrality Communications Design Wins for Automotive Navigation and Smartphone Products at CES 2004
Industry Leading Atlas Platforms Adopted by BCOM, Mobidic, Plink, and Inventec
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan. 13 -- Centrality Communications, a leading provider of semiconductor platforms for high-functional mobile devices, today publicly announced several new design wins for automotive navigation and Smartphone devices based on its industry leading Atlas platform at CES 2004.
Centrality's Atlas processor family (Atlas-A and Atlas-M) delivers full functional integration (GPS, MPEG-4, Digital camera, etc.) and a complete software support package under the Atlas product umbrella. Utilizing a platform approach, the Atlas unifies best-in-class silicon with complete Microsoft Windows CE BSPs (Windows Mobile, Windows CE for Automotive, and Windows CE .NET) as well as pre-integrated 3rd party applications. In addition to the Atlas platform offering, Centrality has invested in creating a turnkey reference design and has assembled a professional services team to produce true time-to-market advantages for our customers.
The Atlas architecture (Atlas-A and Atlas-M) takes a fundamentally different approach to SOC design. Pairing an industry-standard ARM9 core with a high-speed DSP, the Centrality development team has created proprietary hardware accelerators and firmware algorithms to provide GPS, Bluetooth, MPEG- 4, Digital camera, and MP3 functionality on a single chip. This architecture has enabled Centrality to offer extremely aggressive chip pricing while delivering leading-edge functionality and performance.
As part of the Microsoft Consumer Experience Program, Centrality will demonstrate several of its customers' products in the Microsoft and Centrality booth at CES 2004. These products represent the diverse value portfolio offered by Centrality to its customer base.
"We are very pleased to be working with some of the leading automotive navigation and smartphone companies in the industry " said Dr. Chi-Shin Wang, Founder and CEO of Centrality Communications. "These design wins illustrate Centrality's leadership in feature integration, small form factor, low system cost, time-to-market and feature flexibility through firmware." Dr. Wang concluded."
